Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience before joining?

Everyone starts as a beginner, and we have new members starting all the time. No prior experience or fitness level is necessary. Our academy is designed to accommodate all levels, especially beginners. Our team-oriented environment ensures everyone progresses together. Each program offers different physical demands, so talk with us to find the right starting point for you. Consider observing a session, signing up for a free trial class, or setting up a private intro session with your membership.

Do I have to fight as part of the training?

This is a common concern, and we understand why. No one wants to start in martial arts with the fear of getting attacked or hurt. At Coalition, our classes are designed to provide a supportive training environment. Our goal is to build you up, step by step, in a positive and encouraging way. We are a martial arts academy, not a fight club.

What should I wear to my first class, and when should I arrive?

Wear basic athletic clothing without zippers to avoid injuries. Compression gear is ideal. Arrive 10 minutes early to familiarize yourself with the facility. Make sure to reach out to us first to set up a time to come in.

How clean is the gym?

Our gym is cleaned daily, including sweeping and sanitizing. We do a weekly deep cleaning and always aim for the healthiest training environment.

Why the price of a membership?

Membership at Coalition offers more than a typical gym. It provides expert training from seasoned professionals. Your membership is an investment in your personal growth. It supports our specialized operation and connects you with the high-quality and growth-oriented individuals who are part of our club. We are here to provide you with the most benefit for your commitment.

Will I develop self-defense skills?

Self-defense goes beyond a few techniques. It's about building confidence, self-awareness, and the instincts to respond effectively in dangerous situations. Long-term combat sports training is the best way to develop these skills.

Is personal training available?

Yes, private sessions are available depending on instructor availability and your specific needs. An introductory private sesssion is ideal for those seeking exposure and a foundation before joining regular classes.

Is training gear provided?

For Jiu Jitsu, just wear athletic clothing to start. We sell fight shorts and Coalition rashguards. For Kickboxing, we offer gear for your trial period while you acquire your own equipment. After the trial, you will need to purchase 16 oz boxing gloves, shin guards, hand wraps, and a mouthpiece if sparring. These are also available for purchase at the gym.

What is required to compete as a fighter?

Consistency is key. To pursue competitive goals and gain additional support from coaches, you must demonstrate commitment by training regularly, multiple times a week, over months. We have a rule that a member must train with us consistently for at least two months before we have any serious conversations about competing.

Can youths participate in adult classes?

Yes, individuals aged 14 and over may join adult classes if they demonstrate maturity and capability.
